We operate a fixed wing Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), commonly referred to as UAVs or Drones to provide UAV Aerial Surveys. These aircraft provide rapid data capture and we provide RPA / UAV support to our clients for a range of applications.
The use of our RPA / UAV allows us to generate high resolution uav aerial imagery typically with a Ground Sampling Distance* (GSD) of ~3 cm for UAV Aerial Survey applications. Increased resolution can be achieved by flying at lower altitudes. By utilising stereo imagery techniques within our processing software, elevations are output from a high level of image overlap. If the survey is combined with our RTK GPS we can survey in Ground Control Points (GCPs) to refine accuracy to within 5cm in x, y and z planes
We work UK wide providing UAV Aerial Surveys with bases near Norwich Norfolk and Cornwall in the South West
* GSD effectively refers to the pixel size
A recent UAV aerial mapping project example
Our UAV aerial survey operations comply with all UK legislation in regard to commercial use of Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS).
We hold:
CAA Permission for Aerial Work (PfAW)
Liability Insurance
CAA approved Operations Manual
Qualified UAV Pilots (RPQs)
typically 3.5cm GSD
~5cm accuracy in x, y and z planes
By laying and surveying ground control markers (GCPs) before we conduct UAV Aerial Surveys, image mosaics will be accurate to within a few centimetres. Generated surface models will have elevation accuracy to within about five centimetres. The size of each pixel (GSD) or resolution is dictated by the altitude of the UAV and is typically 3-4 cm for the majority of our UAV aerial survey work.
Our CAA permissions allow us to fly upto 500 m from the pilots position (or 700m under EVOLS), which allows a single flight to cover almost 80 hectares (150 hectares under EVLOS). Multiple flights can be flown in a day (depending on external factors such as weather and tide if applicable) and with enough GCPs a digital surface of the entire area can be generated with elevations correct to within ~5cm.
Aerial Surveys have a broad range of applications these include:
Aerial Imagery
Topography Survey
Vegetation Survey
Saltmarsh Extent
Riverbank Survey
Beach Survey
